How I Got Into Running

Lately I’ve been getting back into running. I don’t work out consistently and I am definitely not a runner so this has come as a surprise for me that I am starting to enjoy it! If I can be honest, I think I am finding such enjoyment out of it because its a quick activity that gets my heart rate up, makes me feel like I’m actually working hard, and most importantly, something I can do with Reagan and/or the dogs. Since running has never come easy for me–well I shouldn’t say it comes easy for anyone, I mean it hasn’t been an activity where I get the “runners high” and want to keep going. If anything, I usually can’t wait for the moment when I can stop running. Haha.

Which brings me to–  The Jeff Galloway training. Not only is his training healthy for your body while running, it also helps your pace/ distance and fatigue. His method is designed for run/walk/run interval training. For example, he recommends to run a certain amount of minutes, then walk for X amount of seconds. Right now since I am still a beginner, I don’t focus on pace I focus on distance. I will run for 3 minutes and walk for 1 minute. Once I build up my endurance I plan to run for 4 minutes and walk 30 seconds. 

It may not sound like much, but I know with having a little one who is only getting more active, it’s important for me to find something that gets my heart rate up and keeps me energized, healthy and strong!
